Memorial Day Weekend
In observance of the Memorial Day holiday, crews will not be
working over the weekend. Work will resume on Tuesday, May 26.
Washington Memorial Drive to 4th Avenue
Traffic impact: North Washington Memorial Drive at Highway
23 is closed to traffic. Paving is scheduled for next week--curb
and gutter will be poured on May 22, weather permitting. Traffic
is detoured onto 14th Avenue between Division Street and St. Germain
Street and will remain in place through next week.
Grading from 7th Avenue to the bridge begins this week.
Storm sewer work at 8th and 9th Avenues begins this week.
Sidewalk grading continues at various locations throughout the
project.
Grading and base construction continues on the westbound lanes
of Highway 23.
Street light base installation continues throughout the project.
Forming and pouring of the Cloverleaf parking lot retaining wall
continues.
Motorists are traveling on the eastbound lanes of Highway 23,
one lane of traffic in each direction.
Overpass at Lake George
Beam placement for the Lake George bridge is complete. Crews
will begin forming the deck early next week.
On/off ramps at 9th Avenue South are closed to traffic. 9th/10th
Avenue traffic continues on the southbound lanes between 4th Street
and St. Germain Street.

Mississippi River Bridge
Crews are erecting girders. The remaining girders will be set
over pier #2 and crews will begin to set girders from west abutment
to tower pads and over Riverside Drive on the east side.
Crews have completed the wall for the railing on old pier #1 for
the walkway on the west river bank beneath the new bridge and
will continue working on walls for the bike trail on the west
side.
Granite stone veneer installation continues on pier #3 and will
begin at the west abutment.
Retaining wall on the west side of the river is being removed.
Construction will begin on the new wall after girders are set
for the west abutment.
Boat traffic will be maintained on the Mississippi River during
this project.
