BAXTER, Minn. - Motorists may encounter traffic
delays as crews begin replacing the Highway 238 Pike Creek and
Swan River bridges south of Highway 27, west of Little Falls in
Morrison County, according to the Minnesota Department of Transportation.
Motorists traveling on Highway 238 may encounter
daytime lane closures or flaggers controlling traffic during the
first two weeks of the project.
Starting the week of June 22, traffic will be detoured
18 miles on Highway 27 and Morrison County Highway 1 from
Flensburg to Elmdale. Once in Elmdale, drivers may continue east
on Highway 238 to Bowlus or west to Upsala.
When the detour ends in mid-August and crews complete
work motorists will once again encounter daytime lane closures
or flaggers.
Lunda Construction Company of Black River Falls,
Wisconsin, is the prime contractor for the $1.4 million bridge
replacement project anticipated to be complete by September 11.
Motorists are advised to allow for extra travel
time and watch for detour signs. For updated statewide traffic,
