Washington Memorial Drive to 4th Avenue;
includes overpass at Lake George
Excavation and pile driving began this week for the retaining
wall along the south edge of the Cloverleaf parking lot.
Pile driving operations in pier #1 began and the footings in the
east abutment and pier #3 will also be formed and poured this
week.
Landwehr will begin grading at 7th and 14th Avenue in preparation
for curb and gutter, which is planned to be completed by the end
of next week.
Work continues on the permanent signals at 5th, 7th and 14th Avenue.
City of St. Cloud signal system at 1st and 10 Avenues will have
the signal bases poured this week.
Underground utility installation is done at 13,14,15 and 16th
Avenues. Utility work continues in 17th Avenue and 9th Avenue
South.
Motorists are traveling on the eastbound lanes of Highway 23,
one lane of traffic in each direction.
On/off ramps at 9th Avenue South are closed to traffic. 9th/10th
Avenue traffic continues on the southbound lanes between 4th Street
and St. Germain Street.
Mississippi River Bridge
Diaphragms for the bridge arrived this week and are being assembled
on site.
Crews have finished removing the old west abutment and constructing
the new west abutment footing. Construction of the west abutment
stems and wing walls should be completed next week.
Pier #1 is complete and the bearing assemblies are set.
Pier #2 is complete. Forms and sheeting will be removed.
Pier #3 is complete and the bearing assemblies set.
The east abutment and wingwalls are complete and crews have begun
backfilling the abutment.
Crews finished placing rip rap on the east river bank this week
and also begin raising the dock wall on the east river bank for
launching the beams. Beams are scheduled for delivery in early
May, Crews will begin erecting beams from the east side of river.
The contractor will continue to work on erosion control and clean-up.
The city of St. Cloud has completed the work on the sanitary sewer
on the west bank.
Boat traffic will be maintained on the Mississippi River during
this project.
