ST. CLOUD, Minn. - Construction of the Highway
55 four-lane expansion project from east of Wright County Highway
34 to Wright County Highway 134 resumes on Monday, April 13.
Safety improvements include a traffic signal system installation
with added turn lanes at the intersection of Highway 55 and Wright
County Highway 134, four lanes of newly paved roadway, city curb
and gutters, storm sewers and utility relocations.
During construction, Highway 55 will remain open to two-way traffic
with periodic traffic lane shifts. Drivers are urged to slow down
and drive with care through the work zone.
The $2.8 million expansion project was jointly funded by the
Highway 55 Corridor Coalition, the city of Buffalo and the Minnesota
Department of Transportation.
Mathiowetz Construction of Sleepy Eye is the prime contractor,
with the city of Buffalo serving as project administrators.
Work will be completed by June 2009, weather permitting.
