Four-lane expansion of Highway 55 in Buffalo resumes April 13

ST. CLOUD, Minn. - Construction of the Highway 55 four-lane expansion project from east of Wright County Highway 34 to Wright County Highway 134 resumes on Monday, April 13.

Safety improvements include a traffic signal system installation with added turn lanes at the intersection of Highway 55 and Wright County Highway 134, four lanes of newly paved roadway, city curb and gutters, storm sewers and utility relocations.

During construction, Highway 55 will remain open to two-way traffic with periodic traffic lane shifts. Drivers are urged to slow down and drive with care through the work zone.

The $2.8 million expansion project was jointly funded by the Highway 55 Corridor Coalition, the city of Buffalo and the Minnesota Department of Transportation.

Mathiowetz Construction of Sleepy Eye is the prime contractor, with the city of Buffalo serving as project administrators.

Work will be completed by June 2009, weather permitting.
