Washington Memorial Drive to 4th Avenue
Work on the permanent signal at 7th Avenue will be completed
by Monday, April 13; the permanent signal at 14th will be installed
by Thursday, April 16.
Installation of the signals at 5th Avenue continues.
Motorists are traveling on the eastbound lanes of Highway 23,
one lane of traffic in each direction.
On/off ramps at 9th Avenue South are closed to traffic. 9th/10th
Avenue traffic have been switched to the southbound lanes between
4th Avenue and St. Germain Street.
Crews are working on removals, temporary signal installation,
erosion control implementation and bridge demolition.
The concrete that is removed from the road surface is being crushed
and recycled to be used for base material for the project.
Mississippi River Bridge
Green mulch material was sprayed on the dirt on the east side
of the river to aid in erosion control.
As a as safety and security measure, the gate and fence on Riverside
Avenue have been re-installed.
Crews continue to monitor water depth of the river. So far, there
has been no flooding on the project.
The city of St. Cloud is working on the sanitary sewer on the
west bank for approximately the next two weeks.
The contractor has completed the removal of the old west abutment
and has constructed the new footing for the new abutment. The
forming and construction of the west abutment wall and wingwalls
will follow.
Motorists should watch for trucks entering and exiting from the
bridge on the west entrance.
New pier #1 is complete. The cofferdam sheeting and forms have
been removed.
New pier #2 cap is poured. Forms and cofferdam sheeting removal
will follow in the next two weeks.
New Pier #3 on the east bank is complete.
Work will continue on the east abutment wing walls.
Riprap will be placed on the east river bank beneath the new
bridge.
Beams are scheduled for delivery in early May, Crews will begin
erecting beams from the east side of river.
Boat traffic will be maintained on the Mississippi River during
this project.
