MnDOT announces apparent bid winner for
Highway 23 bridge project in St. Cloud

ST. CLOUD, Minn. - Lunda Construction of Black River Falls, Wis., is the apparent low bid winner for the Highway 23 DeSoto Mississippi River bridge replacement in St. Cloud, the Minnesota Department of Transportation announced today.

The amount of the winning bid was $12.2 million. All submitted bids (Call 140)

MnDOT will begin to complete the procurement bid process with a signed contract, which should occur within the next 30 days. Removing the old bridge will begin in late August.

Rainbow Inc. of Minneapolis is the contractor for the $296,000 paint encapsulation project to begin Monday, July 28. The DeSoto bridge structure contains lead paint, requiring encapsulation prior to disassembling the bridge. Crews will spray a nontoxic liquid elastic material onto the steel to adhere any loose paint. The work will take approximately three weeks to complete.
