ST. CLOUD, Minn. - Lunda Construction of Black River
Falls, Wis., is the apparent low bid winner for the Highway 23 DeSoto
Mississippi River bridge replacement in St. Cloud, the Minnesota
Department of Transportation announced today.
The amount of the winning bid was $12.2 million. All
submitted bids (Call 140)
MnDOT will begin to complete the procurement bid process with
a signed contract, which should occur within the next 30 days. Removing
the old bridge will begin in late August.
Rainbow Inc. of Minneapolis is the contractor for the $296,000
paint encapsulation project to begin Monday, July 28. The DeSoto
bridge structure contains lead paint, requiring encapsulation prior
to disassembling the bridge. Crews will spray a nontoxic liquid
elastic material onto the steel to adhere any loose paint. The work
will take approximately three weeks to complete.
