MnDOT and the city of Browerville are partnering together to reconstruct Hwy 71 through town.

Work crews are now reconstructing the downtown area--Stage 2. Be alert for local road and sidewalk closures and follow directional signing in the area.

Traffic impacts, detour June - Oct

  • Hwy 71 will be close to through traffic from Todd CR 14 to north of 11th St in Browerville (8 miles, adds 3 miles to trip)
    • Use detour via CR 14 south of Browerville to CR 11 to Clarissa
  • Locals traffic may encounter lane/road closures with short detours or flaggers directing traffic
  • Access to businesses and residences will be maintained

Work schedule - now in Stage 2

Stage I 7th St to Harris Creek, north of 11th St June 2 - July 14
Stage 2 4th Street to 7th St in downtown area July 14- Mid-Sept
Stage 3 Drayer Creek, south of 1st St, to 4th St Mid-Sept - Oct. 31


Summary of work

  • Reconstruct Hwy 71/Main Ave, includes sidewalks, curbs and gutters
  • Replace underground utilities, includes city watermain
  • Install emergency vehicle entering flasher system at 7th St
  • Upgrade school pedestrian crosswalk flasher system at 6th St
  • Reconstruct 5th St from Gillis Ave to Railroad Ave
  • Resurface the alley behind the gas station
  • Upgrade street lighting to LED
