About this project

Work on a new $11.3 million Hwy 10 and Benton CR 2 interchange in Rice began in July 2013. The interchange replaces the existing intersection and signal and will improve safety and mobility on Hwy 10 and local roads.

When complete, new bridges will carry free-flowing Hwy 10 traffic over Benton CR 2, ramps will provide improved access to local roads in Rice, and new acceleration lanes at Hwy 10 and CR 31/Gateway Dr will address the area's growing commercial freight traffic.

Local roads and utilities will also be improved.

Summary of work

  • Construct interchange, ramps and connections
  • Realign Hwy 10 mainline
  • Construct acceleration lanes
  • Install local road and utility improvements
  • Map of completed project

  • Improve safety and traffic flow by replacing the existing signalized intersection with a full interchange
  • Provide a smoother ride and extend the road life of Highway 10 near the interchange and segments of local roads that are being reconstructed
  • Improve drainage, local utilities and make other improvements

The entire project is to be complete by November 2014.
