Open houses for 2022 Hwy 71 resurfacing project near Bemidji scheduled for July 30 and August 1
BEMIDJI, Minn. – The Minnesota Department of Transportation (MnDOT) will be hosting two open houses for the Highway 71 resurfacing and corridor safety project to take place in 2022. The open houses are scheduled for:
- Monday, July 30 from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., in the Beltrami Electric Cooperative’s Community Room located at 4111 Technology Drive NW in Bemidji.
- Wednesday, August 1 from 3:00-5:00 p.m., at the Paul Bunyan Communications headquarters, located at 1831 Anne Street NW in Bemidji.
The Highway 71 project is tentatively scheduled for the 2022 construction season. It will include resurfacing the roadway from Highway 197 to Beltrami County Road 15/Irvine Avenue near Bemidji, as well as corridor safety improvements that include improvements at the Anne Street and Glidden Road intersections. When the project is complete, motorists will experience a smoother ride and safer highway.
The purpose of the open houses is to hear input from the traveling public on corridor concerns. MnDOT will gather public input before design begins on possible alternatives.
Everyone is welcome to attend one of the meetings when convenient to provide input on the upcoming project. Representatives of the project team will be available to discuss details and answer questions.
