Orange barrels on a highway

Public invited to provide input and learn options on proposed intersection reconstruction in Park Rapids on Feb. 2

Intersection of Highway 71 and Hubbard County Road 15

BEMIDJI, Minn. – Residents and business owners are encouraged to attend an open house on Tuesday, Feb. 2 to learn more about the potential intersection reconstruction and corridor access modifications on Highway 71 from Hubbard County Road 15 to Eighth Street in Park Rapids.

The meeting will be held from 3 to 7 p.m. in room 324 at the Hubbard County Courthouse, 301 Court Avenue, Park Rapids.

Alliant Consulting Inc. is currently conducting an Intersection Control Evaluation to analyze the intersection and access management along the corridor. The final safety enhancements selected for construction will be based upon the results of this study and input provided by the public.

Preliminary results from the project study suggest that a roundabout at the intersection would provide the greatest safety and functional benefit.

The public meeting will be held in an open house format and participants will have the opportunity to review the initial evaluation criteria, preliminary layouts, and structure alternatives. Representatives of the project team will also be available to discuss the project, answer questions, and receive input on the project.
