Resurfacing of westbound Hwy 2 between Erskine, Hwy 32 begins July 9
BEMIDJI, Minn. – Motorists on Hwy 2 between Erskine and Hwy 32 (Marcoux) will experience intermittent lane closures and crossovers when work begins on Wednesday, July 9.
Crews will be repairing 13 miles of concrete pavement on this stretch of Hwy 2, including replacing box culverts (structures that allow water to flow under a road). Additionally, crews will construct crossovers to accommodate traffic during the closure of the westbound lanes. This will necessitate short-term lane closures, as well as a four-day detour for eastbound Hwy 2 traffic, which will occur in late September.
PCI Roads, Inc. is the prime contractor for this project. Work is expected to be complete by mid-October.
This work will create a smoother ride for motorists and extend road life on this important corridor. It also will improve drainage along the roadway.
Drivers are urged to slow down to 55 mph in the work zones.
