Drivers urged to continue with caution in northwest Minnesota
BEMIDJI, Minn. – (10:00 a.m.) The Minnesota Department of Transportation urges drivers to continue with caution throughout the day due to scattered slippery areas. The department advised no unnecessary travel earlier but state highway conditions have improved through the efforts of MnDOT crews.
Officials do not anticipate any highway closures at this time but conditions could change rapidly with anticipated storm conditions.
Drivers are reminded to:
- Drive slowly on bridges, overpasses and tunnels.
- Use a safe speed for winter driving conditions, regardless of the posted speed limit.
- Keep a safe stopping distance from the vehicle in front of you.
- Keep both hands on the steering wheel, eyes on the road and attention on your driving.
