Bridge construction on Hwy 59 sites near Plummer and Erskine begin June 17

BEMIDJI, Minn. – Motorists on Hwy 59 will encounter a detour over the Clearwater River Bridge near Plummer and a lane bypass near Erskine beginning Monday, June 17 as crews conduct bridge repairs and culvert replacements.

The detour near Plummer will follow Hwy 92, Hwy 32 and Pennington County Road 3. The projects are expected to last until September, weather permitting.

The lane bypass near Erskine will include a temporary traffic signal and is intended for non-truck traffic. Truck traffic must detour on Hwy 2, Hwy 32 and Hwy 92.

Robert R. Schroeder Construction Inc. is the contractor for the project near Plummer which cost $1.1 million. Industrial Builders, Inc is the contractor for the $818,482 project near Erskine.

The improvements will provide a smoother and safer ride for motorists.

Motorists should always drive with caution, slowdown in work zones and never enter a road or lane blocked with barriers or cones.
