New traffic signals at Hwy 71, Hwy 2 ramp in Bemidji to be operational Dec. 23
Temporary four-way stop in place Friday morning
BEMIDJI, Minn. — Motorists will use the new traffic signals at Hwy 71 and the Hwy 2 bypass ramp on the south end of Bemidji as early as Friday afternoon, Dec. 23.
Motorists will encounter a temporary four-way stop at the intersection and the southbound Hwy 71 right lane will close Friday morning, Dec. 23, while crews complete the signal installation. The temporary four-way stop and lane closure will be removed when the new signal systems are operational.
The signals are part of the Hwy 197/71 expansion and the new northbound Hwy 71 bridge over the Hwy 2 bypass.
The Minnesota Department of Transportation urges motorists to always drive with caution, slow down and stay alert in areas where traffic patterns have changed.
