Hwy 197 in south Bemidji opens to traffic
Mn/DOT advises motorists to slow down as construction continues
BEMIDJI, Minn. – Hwy 197 on the south end of Bemidji is now fully opened to traffic as lane construction from Leuken’s South to just south of Carr Lake Road nears completion, according to the Minnesota Department of Transportation.
Motorists are cautioned to be alert to workers and equipment still in the area for the next several weeks as crews perform maintenance work on entrances, final pavement markings, lighting and turf establishment.
Drivers will encounter intermittent lane closures and flagging operations as clean-up work continues.
The work is part of a major reconstruction of a portion of the Hwy 197 and Hwy 71 corridor in Bemidji.
