Mn/DOT encourages trucking entities to attend weight compliance workshop
BEMIDJI, Minn. – Trucking entities who want to better understand how to comply with Minnesota’s legal weight limits are encouraged to attend one of two recently scheduled seminars on Minnesota truck weight compliance.
Seminars in northwest Minnesota are scheduled for:
- Oct. 20, 2010 at the Minnesota Department of Transportation, District 2 Headquarters, 3920 Highway 2 W., Bemidji, Minn.
- Feb. 10, 2011 at the Polk County Human Services Center, 1424 Central Ave. NE, East Grand Forks, Minn.
Both free seminars run from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and are limited to 25 registrants. Those interested in registering or finding other training locations and dates should visit www.mnltap.umn.edu/truckweight or call the University of Minnesota Center for Transportation Studies at 612-624-4754.
The seminars will cover laws that govern gross truck weights, axle weights, tire weights, road-restriction weights and seasonally increased weights during winter and harvest time. Classes will also cover permit requirements for harvest, timber commodities and the winter-load-increase (WLI) for trucks operating on interstate highways.
Please note that these classes are not “permitting” classes for those who haul over-dimensional or overweight equipment that requires oversize permits from either the state or counties.
For questions regarding course content, contact course instructor Greg Hayes at 218-684-1764 or GAHayes@gmail.com.
