U.S. Highway 2 east of Crookston opens to traffic
BEMIDJI, Minn. – U.S. Highway 2 and Highway 9 east of Crookston are open to traffic as work continues on the realignment and reconstruction of U.S. Highway 2 and Highway 9.
Motorists will encounter a 50-mph speed limit in the work zone and are advised to watch out for several areas of gravel on U.S. Highway 2 near the intersections with Polk County Road 9 and Polk County Road 214, as well as a half-mile stretch of gravel at the junction of U.S. Highway 2 and Highway 9.
Paving work on the new alignment of U.S. Highway 2 and the junction of U.S. Highway 2 and Highway 9 is expected to begin next week.
The realignment and reconstruction of this portion of U.S. Highway 2 will provide stability and strength for the underlying road bed and provide users with a safer, smoother ride.
The entire project is expected to be complete by the end of September.
