Highway 220 construction project rescheduled to start Aug. 9
BEMIDJI, Minn. – Construction and a related detour on Highway 220 north of East Grand Forks to Highway 1 at Alvarado has been delayed to until Monday, Aug. 9. The work had been scheduled for Aug. 2
Beginning Aug. 9, northbound traffic will be detoured east to Polk County Road 21 to Highway 75, then north on Highway 75 to Highway 1. Southbound traffic will follow the same detour in reverse.
Access to residences and businesses in the construction zone will be maintained during construction, all other traffic will be required to use the detour.
The detour will be in place for up to twelve working days, then restricted traffic will be allowed through the construction zone. The project is expected to be complete in mid-September.
Mn/DOT reminds motorists to watch for workers and equipment through the entire work zone, obey flagger instructions and let a pilot car guide them through the work zone.
The 18-mile project consists of culvert replacements, lighting, bituminous milling, resurfacing and additional turn lanes, improving the condition and safety of the highway.
Mn/DOT would like to thank the public for their patience and cooperation in all construction zones and reminds drivers to slow down, plan ahead and anticipate that changes can occur due to weather and other factors.
