Temporary closure of U.S. Hwy 2 east of Crookston scheduled for June 7, 8
Two-day detour needed as construction preparations get underway
BEMIDJI, Minn. – Motorists will encounter a two-day detour on U.S. Highway 2 east of Crookston Monday, June 7 and Tuesday, June 8 as crews prepare for the realignment and reconstruction of the westbound lanes near the Highway 9 junction.
All eastbound and westbound traffic will be detoured to Polk County Road 11, also known as the Gentilly truck bypass.
Westbound traffic on Highway 102 will be detoured to Highway 9, then south to Polk County Road 45, west on County Road 14, then north on Highway 75 south of Crookston.
The westbound lanes of U.S. Highway 2 near the Highway 9 junction and adjacent to the Red Lake River were closed in September 2008 due to a landslide.
The realignment and reconstruction of this portion of U.S. Highway 2 will provide stability and strength for the underlying road bed and provide users with a safer, smoother ride.
