Mn/DOT schedules aerial photo mapping for a portion of Hwy 11
BEMIDJI, Minn. – The Minnesota Department of Transportation will conduct aerial photo mapping of Highway 11 from Loman to Pelland in Koochiching County. This mapping will create a photo record of the existing infrastructure and landscape which will be used to plan future improvements on Highway 11.
Mn/DOT paints or places large white targets on the ground to identify GPS coordinates. A survey crew then records the coordinate positions and elevation of the targets and provides this information to the aerial photography company. The targets are temporary and will be removed when the photography is complete.
Mn/DOT requests that landowners work around these targets until the photography is completed – a process that takes two to three weeks. Field work is scheduled to begin on or about March 29.
