TRAVEL ADVISORY: Overland flooding, ice jams cause road closures
Mn/DOT is warning motorists to be alert to potential hazardous road conditions caused by rapidly melting snow and rain creating overland flooding and ice jams in culverts.
In Mn/DOT’s Northwest District 2, the following highways are closed until further notice:
- Highway 9 south of Ada from Norman County Road 179 to Norman County Road 180.
- Highway 200 east of Ada in Norman County.
Drivers are warned not to drive around barricades.
Highways signed for caution include:
- Highway 11 west of Birchdale from Koochiching County Road 4 to Koochiching County Road 118.
- Highway 87 near Park Rapids from Hubbard County Road 111 to Hubbard County Road 68.
Drivers are urged to slow down and proceed with extreme caution through areas that have water running over. Flooding is difficult to predict and conditions can change rapidly.
