Highway 1 construction west of the north junction with Highway 89 continues
Detour extended to Sept. 30
BEMIDJI, Minn. – Motorists are reminded that a detour is in place on Highway 1 west of Highway 89 to the Pennington/Beltrami county line where crews are working to improve the safety and condition of the highway.
The project includes replacing a bridge and 20 culverts and bituminous milling, paving, and striping.
Eastbound traffic is detoured north on Pennington County Road 28 for 3.5 miles, north on Marshall County Road 54 for 8.5 miles to Grygla, then east on Highway 89. Westbound traffic will follow the same detour route in reverse.
The detour will remain in effect through Sept. 30. The remainder of the work will continue with single lane closures and flagging operations after that date.
The project is expected to be complete by mid-October.
