BEMIDJI, Minn. - A project to improve the condition and safety of Highway 223 from Highway 92 to Clearwater County Road 10 will begin Monday, June 16.

Highway 223 will be closed to through traffic. Traffic will be detoured on to Clearwater County Road 3, then east to Clearwater County Road 10 to the community of Leonard. The detour will be in place until June 23 with the remainder of the work done under traffic.

The improvement project includes replacing some of the culvert pipes and repairing culvert aprons followed by a mill and overlay.

Work is expected to be complete by July 3.

Motorists are reminded to drive with caution throughout the state as construction work is in full swing.
