Weekly construction meetings related to Hwy. 34 scheduled for Thursdays |

Bemidji, Mn. - The public is invited to attend weekly public information meetings related to the State Highway 34 reconstruction project in the city of Park Rapids. Central Specialties Inc., prime contractor for the project encourages all interested individuals to attend. The next scheduled meeting is set for 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 10th, at the Frank White Education Center, 301 Huntsinger Avenue in Park Rapids. Beginning Thursday, May 17th, the meetings will be held every Thursday at 1:00 p.m. at the Public Library, located at 210 W. First Street in Park Rapids, with the exception of July 26th, when the meeting will be held again at the Frank White Center. The reconstruction of State Highway 34 to relieve congestion and improve the condition and safety of the roadway will take two construction seasons to complete. A detour onto city streets from the intersection of State Highway 34 and State Highway 71 will begin on May 14th and is expected to be in place for approximately two weeks. After that traffic will be restricted on Highway 34 to one lane in each direction. No over width or overweight permits will be allowed and an alternate truck route for through traffic will be in place, The first phase of the project is expected to be complete by November 15th.
