Bemidji, MN. --- The Minnesota Department of Transportation (Mn/DOT) is alerting the public about work scheduled to repair damage to the Drayton/Robbin Bridge over the Red River on State Highway 11 beginning Monday, March 26, 2007. According to Davis Holthusen, Mn/DOT's Northwest Bridge Maintenance Coordinator, the repair is required due to a high load hit which happened sometime in December, 2006, on the Minnesota side of the bridge. Holthusen said damage was done to a truss on the east end of the bridge and his crew will be replacing the damaged steel. Holthusen said the work is expected to take about one week, weather permitting. Traffic will be narrowed to one lane with periodic closures of both lanes for periods of up to twenty minutes to allow the crew to conduct the work. Motorists using this crossing are advised to allow themselves extra time to get to their destination. For statewide road condition information, dial 511 or log unto www.511mn.org.
