Bemidji, MN. -- The Minnesota Department of Transportation (Mn/DOT) is alerting drivers to the start of construction work on State Highway 2 between Fisher and East Grand Forks in Polk County beginning Tuesday, May 30th.

According to Shawn Groven, Mn/DOT Project Engineer, the work consists of resurfacing the eastbound lanes of Highway 2 which will require traffic to be diverted from the eastbound lanes to the westbound lanes, creating a 2-lane, 2-way traffic condition.

Groven said motorists should be prepared to slow down to a reduced speed of 55 mph through the work zone. Lane closures and a temporary cross-over to accommodate construction will be put in place beginning on May 30th, with the work of crack filling and overlay beginning on Monday, June 5th.

The project is expected to be complete by the end of July.
