Bemidji, Mn. -- The Minnesota Department of Transportation (Mn/DOT) is notifying the public of a detour that will be put in place next week in Thief River Falls to accommodate a railroad crossing resurfacing project on Highway 1, also known as 8th Street.

According to Monty Eidem, Mn/DOT District 2 Traffic Engineer, the detour route will move traffic from Highway 1, south on to Atlantic Avenue to Highway 59, then east on Highway 59 and north on Davis Avenue back to Highway 1.

A temporary 3-way stop will be in place at Highway 59 and Davis Avenue. Motorists are asked to exercise extreme caution at the 3-way stop area.

The resurfacing project, conducted by Canadian Pacific Rail System, is scheduled to start Monday, October 17th at 8:00 a.m. and is expected to be complete on Thursday, October 20th.
