Bemidji, MN. -- The Minnesota Department of Transportation (Mn/DOT) is alerting the public to construction work that continues on Trunk Highway 1 in Beltrami and Koochiching counties with the start of the 2nd phase detour put in place today.
According to Larry Randall, Mn/DOT Project Supervisor, the first phase detour on Highway 1 from Busy Corner to Shooks has been removed and the 2nd phase detour put into place today closes Highway 1 from the junction with Highway 72 at Shooks to the junction with Highway 71.
Randall said eastbound traffic on Highway 1 will be detoured north on Highway 72 to Kelliher, then east on Beltrami/Koochiching County Road 36 to Koochiching County Road 16, then south to Highway 71. Westbound traffic from Highway 71 would follow the same route in reverse.
No overweight or over width permits will be issued for the detour route and axle weight is restricted to 9-ton limit. The detour is expected to last until June 24th.
