Bemidji, MN.
-- The Minnesota Department of Transportation (Mn/DOT) is notifying
the public about a project to upgrade the railroad crossings on
the east and west bound lanes of US Trunk Highway 2 in Crookston
will be underway beginning Tuesday, October 12th and is expected
to be complete by Friday, October 15th.
According
to Michael Kamnikar, Mn/DOT Northwest District Planning Engineer,
"the project upgrade consists of installing new concrete
crossing panels on Highway 2 near the University of Minnesota
- Crookston campus." Kamnikar said Mn/DOT is working with
BNSF Railroad to get the work done as quickly as possible. Following
the installation of the new panels, Mn/DOT will resurface the
approaches."
To accommodate
the work, a detour will be required. Traffic from the south will
be routed to Fischer Avenue from it's intersection with US Highway
2 south of the entrance to the U of M campus, west to the US Trunk
Highway 75 junction and from there, north along US 75 to the intersection
with US Trunk Highway 2. Total length of the detour is approximately
1 mile. Traffic coming from the north will take the same detour
in reverse.
Motorists
are advised to be alert to changing traffic movements on the detour
route.
