Detour Removed Today From Trunk Highway 6 in Itasca County, Motorists Cautioned to Remain Alert to Workers Still in the Construction Zone

Bemidji, MN. -- The Minnesota Department of Transportation (Mn/DOT) is notifying the public that the detour on Trunk Highway 6 between Itasca County State Aid Highway (CSAH) 14 and Itasca /Koochiching CSAH 5 is being removed today and will be open to through traffic.

Larry Randall, Mn/DOT Project Supervisor, cautions motorists that although the detour is being removed, some work still remains and motorists should be alert to work crews still in the area for several more days.

Randall said, "beginning Monday, October 4th, the final bituminous wearing surface will be placed on Highway 6 from Highway 286 at Talmoon, north to Itasca CSAH 14." Randall added, "traffic measures consisting of a pilot car and flaggers will be utilized and drivers can expect some minor delays during this process. Work is expected to be complete by October 13th.

In a parallel project from Highway 6, Mn/DOT warns the Trunk Highway 38 detour, which uses Itasca CSAH 14, will remain in effect until approximately the end of October.
