-- The Minnesota Department of Transportation (Mn/DOT) is notifying
the public that the detour on Trunk Highway 6 between Itasca County
State Aid Highway (CSAH) 14 and Itasca /Koochiching CSAH 5 is
being removed today and will be open to through traffic.
Larry Randall,
Mn/DOT Project Supervisor, cautions motorists that although the
detour is being removed, some work still remains and motorists
should be alert to work crews still in the area for several more
days.
Randall said,
"beginning Monday, October 4th, the final bituminous wearing
surface will be placed on Highway 6 from Highway 286 at Talmoon,
north to Itasca CSAH 14." Randall added, "traffic measures
consisting of a pilot car and flaggers will be utilized and drivers
can expect some minor delays during this process. Work is expected
to be complete by October 13th.
In a parallel
project from Highway 6, Mn/DOT warns the Trunk Highway 38 detour,
which uses Itasca CSAH 14, will remain in effect until approximately
the end of October.
