Bemidji, MN. --- The Minnesota Department of Transportation (Mn/DOT) is warning truckers and other motorists that a portion of Trunk Highway 1 east of Thief River Falls has been put under a 5-ton restriction effective immediately.

According to Steve Hufnagle, Mn/DOT Maintenance Supervisor, the highway has experienced some break up and repair is not immediately possible due to weather conditions. Hufnagle said, "Highway 1 from the intersection of Highway 219 near Goodridge east to the junction with Highway 89 will be posted at 5 tons until further notice."

Mn/DOT is asking all drivers to be extremely cautious when traveling through this area.
