Bemidji, MN. --- The Minnesota Department of Transportation (Mn/DOT)
is notifying the public that the portion of Trunk Highway 2 in
Crookston at West 6th Street that has been closed due to the landslide
will be reopened as of Friday morning, October 24th. Mn/DOT had
closed a portion of one lane of the highway in early September
and has restricted truck traffic in the area of the slide.
Jim Curran,
Assistant District Engineer for maintenance in the Crookston area
said, "After considerable monitoring and analysis of the
slope failure area, we feel it's safe to open up that portion
of Highway 2 that has been closed since early September."
Curran added,
"although we are reopening to traffic, including truck traffic,
the slope indicators will remain in place and we will continue
to monitor the situation on a regular basis."
