Bemidji, MN. --- The Minnesota Department of Transportation (Mn/DOT)
is announcing the start of a construction detour on highway 59,
north of Winger in Polk County, beginning on Monday, June 2nd.
According
to Larry Randall, Mn/DOT Project Supervisor, "the project
is a pavement resurface and rehabilitation of highway 59 from
the junction of Trunk Highway 2, to 1.58 miles south of Winger.
The detour will be put in effect on June 2nd and is expected to
last until mid-to-late August, depending on the weather."
Randall added,
"Traffic traveling north will be detoured from the north
side of Winger, east on Polk County Highway 1, then north on Polk
County Highway 8 to Trunk Highway 2 at McIntosh. Traffic traveling
south will take the same route in reverse."
The prime
contractor is Northern Paving Inc. of Crookston.
Mn/DOT reminds
motorists to allow themselves more travel time for construction
detours and to slowdown in work zones.
