Bemidji, Mn. --- The Minnesota Department of Transportation (Mn/DOT)
is advising motorists traveling in the area of T.H. 197 south
in Bemidji to be extremely alert as construction gets into full
swing this summer.
Already underway is the construction of a new bridge over the
Mississippi River between Lake Bemidji and Lake Irving. Storm
sewer work has also begun along T.H. 197 from the junction of
Shevlin Avenue and 1st Street South and will extend southeasterly
to Washington Avenue. Traffic signals at the junction of T.H.
197 near the E-Z Stop station will also be constructed this summer.
Drivers can anticipate delays as traffic lanes will be pared
down to one lane in each direction at various times throughout
the duration of the project. Drivers are asked to slow down and
be patient.
