Motorists Cautioned to Drive With
Care During Fishing Opener

Bemidji, Mn. --- The Minnesota Department of Transportation (Mn/DOT) is cautioning all motorists to drive with care this weekend, especially in areas where construction work has begun.

Anglers and other travelers to the northwest area of the state are advised of construction in the following areas:

Trunk Highway 72 north of Blackduck is detoured for a culvert replacement. The detour route is north on T.H. 71 from Blackduck to the junction with T.H. 1, then west back unto T.H. 72.

A new bridge is under construction on T.H. 197 in the city of Bemidji. Traffic lanes are open but motorists should be extremely alert for congestion in the area. Pedestrians and fishermen are also asked to keep away from the construction area along the Mississippi River under and near the T.H. 197 project.

For statewide road construction information, log unto Mn/DOT's website: www.dot.state.mn.us or call 1-800-542-0220. Motorists with wireless phone service may also access listings by calling Mn/DOT's new traveler information line 5-1-1, which is currently available on most wireless systems.
