Bemidji,
Mn. —
The Minnesota Department of Transportation (Mn/DOT) is announcing
that it will begin construction on Monday, May 21st,
to replace bridge #5727 on Trunk
Highway
87 over the Crow Wing River in Hubbard County. The exact
location of the project is 7.8 miles west of the junction
with Trunk Highway 64 or 1 mile east of Hubbard County Highway
13.
Motorists
will encounter a 26-mile detour on this project, according
to Larry Randall, Mn/DOT
Project Supervisor. Randall said, "the official detour
route will have traffic routed unto trunk highways 64 and
34 and unto county highway 11."
Randall
said the project was scheduled to start at the end of May
but was moved up to the 21st since all preparations
were ready. He anticipates the project to be completed at
the end of August.
As
construction work gets underway in Minnesota this season,
Mn/DOT is asking the public to slow down and watch for construction
workers, equipment and traffic control devices.
