I-35 Snake River bridge replacement project

Traffic impact

  • No current traffic impacts, work will resume in spring 2019.

April 2019 – October 2019
Hwy 70 and County Road 7 bridge replacements

Motorist impacts

Hwy 70 bridge: Will be closed from April through July
Hwy 70 ramps: Will be closed for two to three weeks for reconstruction
I-35: Will be closed for three days in April, I-35 traffic will be detoured over the Hwy 70 ramps

County Road 7 bridge: Will be closed from July through October
There will be a three week closure of the northbound and southbound I-35 ramps at County Road 7 for reconstruction. This will most likely occur in August or September of 2019.

When the northboound ramps are closed, traffic will exit I-35 at Hwy 70, travel north on Hwy 61 into Pine City and then will be able to enter I-35 at the Hwy 11 ramps.

When the southbound ramps are closed, traffic will exit I-35 at Hwy 11, travel south on Hwy 61 into Pine City and then will be able to enter I-35 at the Hwy 7 ramps.  

I-35: Will be closed for three days in July, I-35 traffic will be detoured over the County Road 7 ramps

  • Construct four new bridges at the Snake River, Hwy 70 and County Road 7
  • Seven miles of resurfacing using unbonded concrete overlay

I-35 Snake River Construction (this work is completed)
April 2018 – October 2018
First stage: Construct seven miles of northbound I-35 pavement and the northbound I-35 Snake River Bridge.
Second stage: Construct seven miles of southbound I-35 pavement and the southbound I-35 Snake River Bridge.
