This project is divided into four stages to allow traffic flow through the work area.
Stage 1: Complete
Stage 2: Complete
Stage 3: Construct ramp
Start Date: August 13
Anticipated Completion Date: Late-August/Early September
During Stage 3, motorists will travel on the newly-constructed roundabout. Frontage Road and the ramp from southbound Hwy 33 to northbound I-35 will close to through-traffic. Motorists should take southbound I-35, exit at the Hwy 210 interchange and then enter back onto northbound I-35.
Because Frontage Road serves mainly local traffic, no signed detour will be provided.
All other movements to remain open to motorists.
Stage 4: Construct free-right
During Stage 4, motorists will travel on the newly-constructed roundabout and ramps, while the free-right from southbound I-35 to northbound Hwy 33 is constructed.
Anticipated Start Date: Late-August/Early-September
Anticipated Completion Date: Mid-September
Completed stages of work
Stage 1: Construct northbound and southbound Hwy 33 bypass
Stage 2: Construct roundabout

Summary of work
This project will replace the existing intersection on Hwy 33 where the I-35 ramps and frontage road meet with a new roundabout. Why a roundabout? This type of intersection control addresses all the high-speed right angle conflicts as well as addresses the concerns of the fatalities and injury-related crashes.
Over a period of 10-years, there have been two-fatality crashes and five-serious injury crashes at this location.
