Hwy 23 Resurfacing, Bridge work

Summary of work summer 2016

    • On Hwy 23, at the St. Louis River (Wisconsin border), resurface bridge deck, replace expansion joints
      Traffic impacts: Single-lane traffic controlled by signals or flaggers.
      Estimated project cost: $3.5 million

    • On Hwy 23, 17 miles northeast of the south Carlton County line, construct a new bridge over the BN Railroad and approaches
      Traffic impacts: Minor, temporary-lane closures, flaggers
      Project cost: $3,159,914
      Work is finished for 2015. Work will resume in May 2016 and will be completed November 11, 2016.

Summary of work 2015 (Work has been completed)

  • Remove box culvert in Duquette, construct a new bridge and approaches
  • On Hwy 23, 9.5 miles northeast of the south Carlton County line, construct a new bridge and approaches at Nemadji River, improve stream habitat at Deer Creek

Summary of work 2014 (Work has been completed)

  • On Hwy 23 in Pine County, from the Junction of Main Street in Askov to 0.4 miles east of the Pine, Carlton County line, resurface 21 miles of Hwy 23
