Environmental Requirements
A Federal Environmental Assessment (EA) and State Environmental Assessment Worksheet (EAW) is required as part of the roadway reconstruction project development process. MnDOT prepares an EA/EAW for federal and state funded projects where the potential significance of the environmental effects is not clearly established. The primary purpose of an EA/EAW is to help the FHWA and MnDOT decide whether an Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) might be needed. Therefore, the EA/EAW should address those resources or features which the FHWA and MnDOT decide may have likelihood for being significantly impacted. The EA/EAW will include thorough discussions of the alternatives evaluated and their impacts.
The EA/EAW is complete and a press release and a notice was mailed/emailed to the Highway 1 Reconstruction Project mailing list. A copy of the EA/EAW is available below on this website in PDF format.
