Soil boring work on Highway 23 in southwest Duluth, New Duluth begins Nov. 6
Duluth, Minn. – Motorists traveling on Highway 23 in southwest Duluth and New Duluth may encounter sidewalk, parking lane and driving lane closures through the end of November. The closures are necessary while crews do soil borings for the design of upcoming projects to replace culverts at the U.S. Steel Creek and Gogebic Creek crossings.
- Soil boring work on Munger Trail between 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Nov. 6: Between the Spring Street Trail underpass and the Grand Avenue Trail on southbound Highway 23 between Becks Road and Crestline Road. The trail will remain open and flaggers will direct trail traffic through the work site.
- Both lanes closed adjacent to the median 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Nov. 7: Southbound and northbound Highway 23 between Spring Street and Grand Avenue Place. In the event of snow/ice this work will take place November 8.
- Sidewalk and parking lane closure through 3 p.m. Nov. 8: Northbound Highway 23 between Becks Road and Crestline Road.
- Southbound right lane and sidewalk closed noon Nov. 13 through 3 p.m. Nov. 15: Southbound Highway 23 between Spring Street and Grand Avenue Place.
