Work near completion on Hwy 1/169 Eagles Nest project in Ely
DULUTH, Minn. — Work on the Hwy 1/169 Eagles Nest project in Ely is nearing completion. The new 5.7 mile long section of highway officially opened to traffic on Tuesday, June 26.
Daily flagging operations to complete remaining work will continue through July 20.

- Safer pull off areas
- Improved drainage
- Reduced shading on roadway
- Improved safety with wider shoulders and increased passing opportunities
- A better ride quality on a smoother pavement surface
