Detour of Hwy 9 Pomme de Terre River Bridge begins June 11
DULUTH, Minn. — The Hwy 9 Pomme de Terre River Bridge located southeast of Morris will be closed beginning Monday, June 11 as crews start construction for the bridge replacement. The project is expected to take approximately three months to complete, weather permitting.
During the closure, traffic to Morris and Hancock will be detoured to Hwy 28 and Stevens County Road 1.
The bridge replacement project will improve the safety of the roadway. The new bridge will be constructed with 10-foot shoulders and have additional width on the north side to accommodate a future trail.
Robert R. Schroeder Construction, of Glenwood, is the contractor for the $1.3 million project. Visit the project website at mndot.gov/d4/projects/hwy9morris/ for more information.
The Minnesota Department of Transportation urges motorists to always drive with caution, and reminds them to slow down in work zones and never enter a roadway that has been blocked with barriers or cones.
