Bridge work begins April 17 on Hwy 169 over Hwy 53 in Mountain Iron/Virginia, motorists will be restricted to a single lane in each direction
DULUTH, Minn. — Motorists traveling on Hwy 169 over Hwy 53 will encounter bridge work and a temporary bypass April 17 through October 2018. Traffic will be reduced to a single lane in each direction from the bypass to Hoover Road.
Signal systems at the top of ramps will be deactivated and stop signs will be in use. An additional stop sign will be placed at Hoover Road for westbound Hwy 169 traffic.
During this time truck detours will also be in place and truck traffic will use Hoover Road.
Beginning April 20 Hwy 53 traffic will be re-routed during daytime hours utilizing the on and off ramps. Motorists will encounter flagging operations at the top of the ramps. Additional single lane closures will occur along Hwy 53.
Drivers should reduce speed and use caution in and around the work area.
