Surface changes and traffic reconfiguration on Hwy 169 Cross Range Expressway begin August 26
DULUTH, Minn. — Motorists traveling on the Highway 169 Cross Range Expressway in Taconite will be rerouted onto the newly paved southbound lanes beginning August 26.
Traffic on the new portion of the highway be in two-lane, two-way configuration. There will be a double yellow line and no passing zone throughout the project area. The speed limit will be posted at 45 miles per hour.
Previously drivers had encountered a rough gravel bypass which is no longer needed. Those travelling on 169 will now experience a smoother ride.
MnDOT advises that drivers continue to use extreme caution when driving through work areas.
The project is expected to be completed fall 2017.
