Temporary lane closures for Hwy 169 begin July 17 in Mt. Iron/Virginia

DULUTH, Minn. — Motorists will encounter single lane and shoulder closures beginning July 17 on Hwy 169 in Mt. Iron and Virginia.

Hwy 169 will remain open to one lane of traffic in each direction during construction while crews work on pavement and shoulder rehabilitation. Turn lane closures around the intersections of Hwy 169 and County Road 7/Enterprise Drive and County Road 109 will occur in August.

This portion of the project is expected to be completed in October 2017. The project will resume in spring of 2018 and go through October 2018. Remaining work will consist of bridge and pavement rehabilitation.

Project benefits include smoother pavement surface, better ride quality, improved traffic signal functionality, and pedestrian accessibility and safety.

Please drive with caution in and around all work zones.
