New law to help increase work zone safety

WHAT:            Motorists who speed through a work zone will now be fined $300 under
                        a new state law that goes into effect Friday, Aug. 1.

WHEN:            Monday, July 28, at 10 a.m.

WHY:              Safety in the work zone is a top priority for contractors, law enforcement and MnDOT. The increased fine is intended to draw the attention of motorists and get them to slow down when driving through a work zone.
