Orange barrels on a highway

Northbound Hwy 33 restricted to a single lane June 10 in Cloquet

Additional traffic restrictions on Doddridge Avenue and Big Lake Road

DULUTH, Minn. – Motorists will be restricted to a single lane on northbound Hwy 33 near the Doddridge Avenue/Big Lake Road intersection beginning Tuesday, June 10 in Cloquet as crews install new utilities related to the Hwy 33 reconstruct project.

Doddridge Avenue and Big Lake Road will also be reduced to a single lane sometime next week to allow for work to begin on the intersection reconstruction. Motorists should expect traffic delays.

Businesses are all open and accessible during this construction project. Motorists may choose to use alternate routes to access local businesses or follow the posted signs which will direct traffic to access points for the businesses.

Alternate routes for west side businesses include: Carlton Avenue and Amory Drive

Alternate routes for east side businesses include: Washington Avenue and Stanley Avenue

This project will completely replace the pavement on Hwy 33 from Interstate 35 to the Big Lake Road

Intersection and will provide many safety and accessibility improvements.

The completed project will improve freight movement and mobility to and from north-central Minnesota.
