I-35, Hwy 61 to close temporarily Sept. 14 for NorthShore Inline Marathon in Duluth

Five events will take place on the closed roadways, including a new 10K run

DULUTH, Minn. — County Road 61 (Congdon Boulevard) from Two Harbors to Duluth, Hwy 61 (London Road) from 26th Avenue East to Superior Street and I-35 from Mesaba Avenue to 26th Avenue East, will close Saturday, Sept. 14 from approximately 6:30 a.m. to approximately 2 p.m. for the 18th Annual NorthShore Inline Marathon.

Superior Street and the Hwy 61 Expressway will be used as alternate routes and will be clearly signed.

“The annual NorthShore Inline Marathon is an important community event that brings thousands of people to Duluth and the North Shore,” said Duane Hill, District 1 engineer. “MnDOT is happy to partner in the success of this event by allowing participants use of our roadways for a few hours.”

This year’s NorthShore Inline Marathon will expand to five events including a new running race called the “Tunnel 10K”. The Tunnel 10K will start and end in Duluth at 5th Avenue West. This event is open to people of all abilities ranging from casual runners to seasoned racers.
