Orange barrels on a highway

Hwy 18 culvert replacement, drainage improvement project underway east of Mille Lacs Lake

DULUTH, Minn. – Motorists traveling on Hwy 18 between Hwy 47 in Mille Lacs County and Hwy 61 in Pine County will encounter areas of single lane traffic with flaggers through the end of September as a major drainage improvement project continues. The work has begun just east of Mille Lacs Lake and will progress toward Hwy 61.

Throughout the months of August and September, 25 separate areas of Hwy 18 will be worked on and improved. Each work area will be completed in two-weeks or less, which will limit the number of areas being worked on at one time.

This project will improve drainage. Better drainage will extend the pavement life of Hwy 18.
